Re: Oddly High Lp(a) Measurements

However in 2010 (7 years after the above article) Marcovina in the J Clin Lip reference cited above states: "The conversion factor from mg/dL to nmol/L varies from 2.85 for a small Lp(a) size to 1.85 for a large one. Therefore, a factor of 3.5 is too high, and we suggest a mean conversion fact...

Re: Oddly High Lp(a) Measurements

If those numbers are correct - and you are not taking much vitamin C - then you would be lucky to be alive, much less able to walk across the room. I agree considering the measurement for LP(a) is µmol/L So with a level of 272 nmol/L would equal out to .272 µmol/L Converting .272 µmol/L to mg/dL eq...

Re: Ketosis / Ketogenic diet discussion thread

I agree with Owen on the effects of B5 in tissue absorption but this brings the question? B5 only gives Half of the needed elements to accomplish the production of Co-A which is the transporter of fats into the cells. This perhaps could be the cause of the extended period to show signs of progress. ...

Re: Is It Prudent To Increase The Dose of Cholesterol-Lowering Drugs?

This is quite easy to understand except for those in Big Pharma’s pocket! Statins deprive muscles in the body of essential elements to do their job and cause cells of the muscles to die. This dead tissue must be removed and sent to the blood stream for exit. They get to the kidneys with the elements...

Re: Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) - The Anti-Fat Vitamin?

so lots of coenzyme A , so what exactly does more B5 do to "burn more fat?” This is kind of like saying, “What does gasoline and oil do to a car?” In all living organisms, Coenzyme A is synthesized in a five-step process that requires four molecules of ATP, from pantothenate and cysteine. Coen...

Perhaps LE should read their references a little closer! Thus, its diuretic effect could be one of the possible antihypertensive mechanisms of celery seeds. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3684138/ They also refer to Spironolactone in this article as a comparison of action. So to save y...

Exitium wrote: Inflammation is a critical element in the healing cascade, eliminate it and you hamper healing. I’m in a 100% agreement with exitium wrote and thought to myself most people don’t understand the healing process and take meds that counter act the process and wonder why they have proble...

Re: Sherry A Rogers MD Books are worth reading

Confused1 What I read and understand about 3-n-butylphthalide (Celery seed extract) is it acts as a diuretic which means it makes one move more fluids out of the body. Which in turn lowers the pressure capabilities of the heart due to lower volume of fluids and this action generally causes a mild in...

Patients taking CCBs (Calcium Channel Blockers) have an over 26% increase in risk of having heart attack and/or heart faliure on these drugs. Furthermmore, they are useless Once again this statement is Non specific to which type of CCB’s their talking about! Dihydropyridine (DHP) calcium channel bl...

Re: DMSO for the resolution of Adrenal Malfunction

Owen; I would like to add a couple of pointers that may help with your DMSO journey. First; Yes! your probably experience a detox effect and also reoccurring an inflammatory response which always seems worst when it returns then when it went away! DMSO has a very strong anti-inflammatory action and ...

Re: Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) - The Anti-Fat Vitamin?

Using Pantethine in high levels can cause diarrhea because of it’s effects on the liver. (Lowers cholesterol and tri’s by dumping them into the GI system) High levels can also block other B vitamins with the exception of B12. I would suggest more of a Steady State dosing since he’s taking 2 pills 2 ...

Re: conversion issue

I am correct in thinking that Lp(a) will go up when someone starts pauling therapy? a good idea of a valid Lp(a) number is to give Pauling therapy about a year to work?

These questions were answered here in March 2011.
