A Minneapolis-based food firm this week sued one of its ingredient suppliers, alleging that antifreeze-tainted vitamin C made its way from China into thousands of boxes of Malt-O-Meal-branded cereal.

One wonders how this stuff happens. Why is antifreeze anywhere near the C? What are they doing, making it in an antifreeze factory? And even if they were, bottled antifreeze can't contaminate anything. It seems to me this would be difficult to arrange by mere negligence.

Polyethylene Glycol known as PEG is a common food additive that adds a sweet touch to the products it's mixed with. It's available in liquid or powder form. It is a GRAS product (Generally Recognized as Safe). It can be added to ascorbic to lower it's bitterness.

Ethylene Glyucol is antifreeze and is toxic.

Using Modern or tradional Chineese charecters the addition of POLY is a curve at the begining it is defined in english as, "many."

As we can see, when they purchased what they thought SHOULD be PEG they probably got antifreeze becaused it was missing the curve in the name and no one in production would question the supreme upper authorities least they loose their low paying job. Continued to add the antifreeze to their production as directed.

Moral OF Story!!!! BUY AMERICAN or pay the price.

Only suggestion, "Don't buy Chinese - or pay the price" :D (Or vitamin C is made in Scottland)
