No, I am taking your advise and spending $1000 for a complete male hormone panel (from Life Extension) plus the saliva testing. All to bring to my "cortisol friendly" doc at the end of the month. I do require a prescription, so there will be another opinion in play on this.

However, I am excited, because my morning armpit temp was today around 94 degrees (my wife as the control is close to 98 degrees.

I think Randian's experience may be applicable to my case, and I am anxious to see whether I can lower my methyl prednisone dosage after 3 to 4 months on dessicated (natural) thyroid. A) I know that going to even 1 mg now would put me back in the hospital, 2 mg leads to joint pain and difficulty lifting my arms, and over time 3 mg leads to problems in knees walking up the stairs. I am back to 4 mg (played tennis yesterday) and my blood sugar yesterday a.m. was 150 mg.

So if all goes as planned, I should be able to tell, at least in my own personal case, if my problem really stemmed from low thyroid function, or some kind of feedback problem between both glands. I am excited to potentially get off cortisol!

Out of your own pocket, I presume? I hope I catch you before you spend that much money. Consider Health Check USA, MyMedLab, or Direct Labs (no cortisol, but the other labs are inexpensive). You still need to pay a phlebotomist, but overall you should save a lot of money with any of these services.

As a correlation with the above info, it takes me around 20 minutes in
a 185 degree sauna to start sweating. Most others start sweating much
sooner.

Are you sure that's the right temperature? I'd worry about dying in 20 minutes at that temperature, not sweating.

I believe the LEF tests were around $700 for the complete male hormone panel.

I forget what the saliva test costs, but I also added in the doctors visit, and added it up and rounded off to $1000
