Lypo-C Resolves Raging Bacterial Infection/Knee Replacement

Post Number:#1  Post by ofonorow » Sun May 26, 2013 2:08 pm

After this was pruned, went back through a backup to recreate this from summer 2011..

This is a case I was peripherally involved in and observed.

The lady is a friend. She is 80-years-old, and has a knee replacement prosthesis. She was bitten in the leg near the knee by a cat, and she developed a "raging" infection that was diagnosed as Pseudomonas bacteria. (I didn't know this, but every one in medicine seems to know that she was likely to lose her prosthesis.)

Some time after the bite, she entered the hospital, and remained in the hospital for over a week receiving IV antibiotics for the infection. They were apparently unable to control the infection, and she was sent home with Cipro. She had a doctors appointment just before the vitamin C was started, and was told her "infection was raging" and she was referred to a another specialist. (She already had two infectious diseases doctors treating her at the hospital.)

From her memory, which is not trustworthy, she remembers her White Blood Cell count was 17,000. (Yesterday, after she finally "achieved" her bowel tolerance, her WBC was 7,000 - normal.) I have her count before the cat bite (6k) and yesterday (7k) but am waiting for copies of the lab reports during the infections.\n\nShe was told that only 1 in 25 keep their prosthesis after such an infection. She was also told that she may also lose her leg, and perhaps even her life. And I was later told that this is already her 2nd knee prosthesis, and that she is a colon cancer survivor.

The lady has no computer and had never heard of vitamin C being effective against infections.

I had my doubts. I have been led to believe that while vitamin C is very effective against viral infections, it does not have the same devastating effect against bacterial infections. Thus this report!)

Unfortunately, we know the day she was bit - April 9, 2011. (The same day Mike Till died.) Some time after she came home from the hospital, about 10 days later, I gave her a copy of Dr. Levy\'s CURING THE INCURABLE: Vitamin C , Infectious Diseases and Toxins. (Livonbooks.com) She has been fighting the infection ever since, relying on her doctors. She did not start the vitamin C until about 3 weeks ago, after she was told the infection was getting worse and they started scheduling the operation to remove the prosthesis.

At that point she approached me about vitamin C, and I consulted with Dr. Levy. It was suggested that she take vitamin C as sodium ascorbate powder and Lypo-C, as a stop-gap measure, while looking for someone who would administer an IV/C. (Although Dr. Levy did comment at the time that the amount of oral vitamin C/lypo C she was getting would control 90% of infections.)

This search for an IV/C clinic evolved into looking for someone who would administer H202, which evolved into someone who would do Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. (She delayed and did not have any of these other treatments, perhaps because she was told it would require up to 20 HBOT treatments, and there was a high probability Medicare wouldn\'t cover it. Dr. Levy\'s book was enough to convince her that the oral C should be enough to be effective. She even tried to contact Dr. Levy herself, and that is when I sent him email.)

She worked her way up from 1/4 teaspoon 3 or 4 times daily, to a full teaspoon of Vitamin C Foundation (Quali-c) sodium ascorbate, 3 to 4 times daily (or roughly 15 to 20 g). She never achieved diarrhea. And with all the other medications she was taking, it was hard for her to remember to take any more.

In addition, based on the Livonlab.com advertisement in the Townsend Letter, which she saw, she took 1 Lypo-C in the morning, and 5 Lypo-C in the evening. (The 5 Lypo-C is supposed to emulate blood levels of a small IV, according to the ad.)

On 2 or 3 occasions, I gave her a packet of Lypo-GSH, which she also took.

Yesterday, she called to say she finally experienced the diarrhea, but had not changed her dosage. (Coincidentally, she had also gotten a blood test yesterday for her cancer doc - which showed the "perfect" WBC of 7K).

She is starting her 3rd carton of Lypo-C, so at six packets per day, one carton lasted 5 days, so I know she started her oral vitamin C program 11 days ago.

After obtaining confirming copies of the medical records, this report will probably be expanded into a letter for the Townsend Letter.

I am going to keep a record of the emails. Yesterday, my neighbor with the infection wanted to know how long she should keep taking the five Lypo-C? Here is Dr. Levy\'s kind response:

Dr Levy wrote:
Hi Owen,

Great news!

I would continue the lypo-C as is until there is no clinical or laboratory indicators of ongoing infection. Then I\'d go 3 daily for 2 weeks, then you could just take the regular vitamin C to bowel tolerance and one lypo (if finances allow) daily indefinitely.

I always want any given patient to get everything they can use to recover, but it\'s great when someone far advanced recovers with just one or two things, by their own choosing. Helps a lot in figuring out other things down the road. Now we have an even better idea of what lypo and regular oral C can do all by their lonesomes.
Best regards,

Dr. Levy
