Hi,
I was just wondering how well her liver and gall bladder are functioning. I have found a lot of things have cleared up for me when I got my bile thinned out and flowing better.

Salud,
John

Hi John, it's good to hear from you.

I guess that I should give her a liver-gallbladder formula also. What did you use to get your bile flowing better? What effects do you experience as the result?

Thank you, Seadog. I'll see if there is a way to make it or buy it. This could be an excellent remedy for leaky gut.

About the research Owen brought about L-Glutamine and HGH, and butyric acid:

I wondered if the neurotransmitter GABA (gamma-amino-butyric acid) might have the same effect on the intestine as butyric acid. So I started looking, and found that L-Glutamine is a precursor to GABA, and that there is much research showing that orally-given GABA raises the level of Human Growth Hormone!! Therefore, simply giving L-Glutamine should raise the HGH level, as well as making GABA, which may or may not directly aid the intesting like butyric acid does (I wasn't so far able to verify this, but practically speaking it won't matter as far as whether to prescribe it).

Exercise also raises HGH.

Herbs for Bile

Post Number:#19  Post by johnor » Fri May 05, 2006 12:54 pm

Hi,
The list below is what seemed to dissolve the gallstones I had over a 2 week period. The color of my stools became a normal dark brown color when I had a fat or meat meal. After preparing a decoction of the herbs and drinking it for 7 days I would then just steep an ounce of the gold coin grass leaves each day in about 3 quarts of water (don't reduce it to a cup) and drink it throughout the day for a while. It appears that the bitter herbs will thin out the bile and keep the bile duct clear. In this way you don't risk backing up the flow of pancreatic enzyme and creating problems for the pancreas.
You can get these herbs from any good Chinese herbalist.

1. Lygodii Spora – Hai Jin Sha - Japanese fern spores
http://www.herbasin.com/database/chuanxinlian.htm
2. Lysimachia Herba – Jin Qian Cao – Gold Coin Grass - Desmodium herb
http://www.acupuncturetoday.com/herbcen ... achia.html
3. Galli Endothelium Gigeriae – Ji Nei Jin - Chicken Gizzard Membrane
http://www.herbasin.com/database/jineijin.htm
4. Cyperi Rhizoma – Xiang Fu – Nutgrass tuber
http://www.herbasin.com/database/xiangfu.htm
5. Paeoniae Alba Radix – Bai Shao – Peony Root, White
http://www.herbasin.com/database/baishao.htm
6. Aurantii Immaturus Fructus – Zhi Shi – Orange Fruit (bitter, immature)
http://www.herbasin.com/database/zhishi.htm
7. Bupleurum Radix – Chai Hu – Hare’s End Root (Bupleurum)
http://www.herbasin.com/database/chaihu.htm
8. Curcumae Radix – Yu Jin – Turmeric Tuber
http://www.herbasin.com/database/yujin.htm
9. Glycyrrhizae Radix – Gan Cao – Licorice Root
http://www.herbasin.com/database/gancao.htm

Decoction preparation: for 7 packets of herbs.

Step 1: In the early evening put all ingredients in one packet in pure stainless steel or ceramic pot. Cover with 4 cups of water. Soak for 30 minutes. Bring to boil and lower heat to simmer for 45 minutes or until reduced to 1 cup of liquid. Drink liquid and keep ingredients in pot overnight.
Step 2: In the morning cover used ingredients with 3 cups of water. Bring to boil and lower heat for 45 minutes or so till liquid is reduced to 1 cup. Drink and discard ingredients.

Repeat this procedure morning and early evening for 7 days.

If this handles the stones, continue with a maintenance tea of gold coin grass leaves as per the instructions above.

Well, you certainly should address the candida infection as one of priority. Lets understand how yeast and fungus thrives in the digestive system. Fungus/Yeasts/Molds generally like "acidic" warm and anaerobic environments. Sugars, meats, caffiene, dairy and pretty much anything sweet can throw the yeast counts up instantly. There can be an underlying heavy metal problem, I doubt it would be Iron overload since this is a female, unless she is not menstruating. Secondly I would come to think of either copper or mercury toxicity (ask how many amalgams in teeth, how much fish/seafood she consumes). Heavy metals certainly hinder immunity which is the bodys main defense against these pathogens. Once heavy metals are ruled out I would put her on an organic liquid multi vitamin/mineral/amino acid complex (http://www.vites.com/catalog/index.php? ... cts_id=504) since her absorption is probably hindered by the yeast. So taking tablets and pills would be useless.

Once underlying causes of yeast are eliminated, I would not begin any probiotic therapy as it would only be useless at this time. I will explain why:

Candida resides within the tight spaces/compartments of the intestinal and stomach lining, the pro biotics cannot take their place unless the candida is first killed off those compartments and then probiotics occupies the available spaces (kind of like chess). A powerful natural and healthy yeast killer would be Coconut Oil (http://www.mercola.com - Click on store) Coconut oil contains Lauric Acid which actually bursts yeast cell walls open and destorys them along with other viruses and pathogens. I would take about 2-4 tablespoons per day. In addition I would take a powerful herbal approach to support immune system and kill yeast at the same time, this way you're not alone in the battle and have the body's own immune system helping (http://www.healthyhealing.com/product.esiml?PID=579).

And last but not least, she needs stress reduction (L-theanine) which helps keep immunity and adrenal glands strong to help fight off pathogens and prevent the stress of the sugar metabolism. Brisk exercise (walks) for 30min every morning and evening to burn off excessive stress homrones and maintain blood circulation.

And here I will add some more info on Hypoglycemia control:

Acute hypoglycemia therapy focuses on immediately raising the blood sugar level. Any substance containing carbohydrates, such as saltine crackers, fruit juice, or hard candy, if taken at the beginning of a hypoglycemic episode, will help raise blood sugar quickly and ease the severity of an attack. A severe hypoglycemic attack is therefore a good time to consume rapidly absorbed simple sugars. Fruit juice, glucose syrup, or sugary soft drinks can be lifesaving. Milder attacks can be managed with foods that contain complex carbohydrates, which are less rapidly absorbed. However, these should not be used by a person having a severe attack (i.e., a diabetic with an insulin reaction).

The following nutrients have been shown to help normalize blood glucose levels:

Chromium. Chromium is widely recognized as an essential trace element. It has multiple effects on insulin levels. Chromium has been widely studied in the context of type 2 diabetes for its ability to lower blood sugar levels at higher doses by increasing insulin sensitivity (Racek J 2003). However, studies have also shown that chromium can help enhance glucagon secretion (McCarty MF 1996).

Amino acids. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the human body and is involved in more metabolic processes than any other amino acid (Stumvoll M et al 1999). Few clinical trials have been conducted to determine if glutamine supplementation can increase glucose levels. Amino acid infusions, however, are known to raise glucagon levels, which in otherwise healthy individuals produces an increase in glucose (Nair KS et al 1990). Hypoglycemia was induced by insulin infusions in diabetic and nondiabetic subjects in two studies. The participants then received amino acid mixtures. The results indicated a sharp rise in glucagon secretion in normal participants and a modest rise in diabetic participants (Caprio C et al 1993).

A study in an animal model demonstrated that the liver's ability to produce glucose from certain amino acids was increased during hypoglycemia induced by insulin. Glucose levels increased in animals given the amino acid infusion but not in control animals given only a saline infusion (de Souza HM et al 2001).

N-acetylcysteine. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a protein amino acid that has antioxidant properties. It has been shown to alleviate hypoglycemia in rodents exposed to toxic chemicals by preventing the rapid loss of glucose. For example, in one study of rats exposed to a toxin that causes hypoglycemia, administration of 200 mg/kg NAC prevented depletion of glucose (Sprague CL et al 2005). In another study of rats exposed to arsenic, which is known to cause hypoglycemia, administration of 163.2 mg/kg of NAC daily prevented hypoglycemia (Pal S et al 2004).

Best of health,

P.S. After the yeast of killed off, I would recommend one of the following pro biotics:

1). Garden of Life (Primal Defense ULTRA)
2). Dr.Ohhira's (30+ years in making & which includes a new super potent probiotic called TH10 Strain) http://store.yahoo.com/iherb/ohhira1.html
3). Digestive enzymes to assist with digestion are also recommended.

Fungus/Yeasts/Molds generally like "acidic" warm and anaerobic environments
Maybe this is why she reacted to increasing ascorbic acid intake. She felt that the candida was "stirred up", and felt "off balance" and asked about the acidity of the vitamin C powder. Do you think that this acidity was responsible for these symptoms ? If so, I will suggest mixing the ascorbic acid with baking soda before drinking.

She also complained of itching and hives after beginning the vitamin C (she already had been taking 2.5 grams a day, and I had her increase until bowel tolerance. She got up to 14 grams, but stopped because of the symptoms). It seems to me that he hives and itching were a healing reaction as the vitamin C neutralized the toxins made by the candida. A major problem with her treatment is that she is a mother of 4 small children and her husband is often out of the country, therefore, she is unwilling to undergo treatment which causes her to feel worse even temporarily. What she really needs is a few weeks in a different environment.

She doesn't have actual hypoglycemic attacks, but cyclical symptoms mixed with almost instant emotional and physical reactions to almost any food intake.

I intend to send hair mineral analysis to check for metals, but it's pretty obvious that her condition was caused originally by youth full of junk food and antibiotics.

Good idea to give her a liquid vitamin/mineral complex. It's pretty clear that she is suffering from general malnutrition and isn't absorbing her food or the supplements she has been taking.

The triglyceride level is 36, something I've never heard of. What does that say to you? Part of her malnutrition, and what can be done about it? She is taking a couple of grams of omega-3. I know that this is very effective in lowering high levels of TG's. Could it be driving the level down too much. Generally, I believe that orthomolecular substances give balance, but maybe this isn't right for her.

Thank you so much for your input.

As I stated earlier, Candida is a complex situation involving a multidirection approach. Its like a war, you must outsmart and surround the enemy in order to win. Yes Vitamin C is acidic and it can contribute to Candida overgrowth. E mail me if you'd like to discuss anything further. Vitamin C is powerful, but any disease requires a comprehensive and multidimension open minded approach. curecode@gmail.com
