Request granted to make this easier to find. From '80-year old with stents seeking advice' post in archive.
I am a Scottish gentleman my 80's and I would like some guidance, having just received 3 stents. I cannot take plavix nor comuadin. There are PAD issues in the knee area. Your help would be very much appreciated.
G.

The standard protocol is based on Linus Pauling's recommendations, and is always to supplement vitamin C as ascorbic acid (usually at least 10,000 mg daily, but even better to bowel tolerance) and lysine (max. 6000 mg).

Unfortunately, the tolerance for vitamin C varies widely among individuals. See: http://vitamincfoundation.org/www.orthomed.com/titrate.htm for information on vitamin C bowel tolerance.

It is best to start with one 500 mg tablet of vitamin C (ascorbic acid with the fewest fillers) every 3 or 4 waking hours.

Ditto lysine, take one 500 mg tablet with vitamin C every 3 or 4 hours.

If after a day or two, you determine that you can tolerate this amount (usually 5 * 500 or 2500 mg of each) and there are no tolerance issues (e.g. diarrhea) then increase both the vitamin C and lysine until issues are reached, e.g. try 2 tablets (every 3 or 4 hours) or 1000 mg of each, gradually increasing to tolerance.

When you reach tolerance, contact us. Some people cannot tolerate as little as 200 mg every 3/4 hours. (If this is your case, we can recommend some liposomal products.) If your tolerance is at least 2500 mg we can recommend Cardio-C. If 6000 mg we might recommend a Tower heart tech product, etc.

Vitamin C tolerance can reach up to 10,000 mg, 20,000 mg or even 30,000 mg per day, depending on the individual.

Note - we recommend equal dosages up to 6000 mg daily, but we do not recommend increasing lysine more than 6000 mg total per day.

My entire heart disease nutritional protocol (largely based on Linus Pauling's) can be downloaded as an excerpt from my book: http://practicingmedicinewithoutalicense.com/protocol.htm

Additional Information for Newcomers

1. Take the pure PT powders 20 minutes prior to meals. (This based now on almost 20 years of trial-and-error. People report having fewer nuisance issues on an empty stomach)

2. Avoid taking high amounts of Fiber along with vitamin C and lysine. The problem seems to be that Fiber is not digested and can attach to some/all of these nutrients, preventing their absorption. See:
http://www.internetwks.com/pauling/stories.html#RALPHS

3. Fluoridated water may interfere with the therapy. Use non-flouridated water: See: http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11575

4. Here are johnwen's calculations/tables for determining your individualized minimum PT (vitamin C) dosage for preventing cardiovascular disease: See: http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7593

Hello ofonorow,

Regarding Lysine, why do you think to say 6,000 mg? Taking more would be bad?
