A good friend of mine, who is a relatively new convert to Vit C therapy, has read that ascorbic acid will strip your tooth enamel if you don't wash your mouth with fresh water after ingesting the Vit C. He tells me he's seen it in two places on the internet and his dentist has confirmed this.

I have never rinsed my mouth after taking my Vit C.... and needed a couple of fillings last visit to the tooth doctor.

Can anyone confirm this advice.... or 'prove' this to be incorrect information??

Thanks !

You can always drink it with a straw to reduce exposure or add a little bicarb to reduce acidity.

So, tjohnson, You're saying 'yes' it does dissolve tooth enamel??

And here's how to avoid that. is my reading of your reply correct?

Just avoid powder and get coated tablets which you can find in practically any store. Yes, it does harm teeth when physically exposed. That's why we need a genetic treatment so supplementation won't be necessary :!:

I think that depends on the individual, the state of their enamel, etc. I know if I crunch up a 1g tablet as I used to do I did find some teeth getting 'touchy' so I assume it was a reaction to the acid but these teeth have fillings and the nerves may be more exposed than normal, hard to say. Others don't seem to have much trouble with it.
