I've heard other plant based Dr's talk about young Korean soldiers showing signs of early CVD but you would think most Asians countries diet consists of mostly fruits and vegetables so why would they be showing early signs of CVD? They don't give an answer in this article but they do mention it. Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn the Whole foods based Dr. on preventing and reversing CVD talks about young soldiers showing CVD at 18 years old as well.
I just thought it was odd considering you would think Koreans lived on mostly plants, why would they have early signs of CVD?

Well I had read the opposite. That Koreans had NO signs of CVD, while young American soldiers had atherosclerosis.

Linus Pauling answered this question. CVD is a chronic vitamin C deficiency - made worse by excess carbs in the diet (or trans fats mucking up insulin receptors on cell membranes.) See
