Have a question for the forum

Post Number:#1  Post by guitarplayer007 » Wed Nov 22, 2017 7:27 am

I started having what I call mild discomfort in my stomach, like a tinge of pain that would last a few seconds to maybe a minute. It would come and go though out the day. Its been happening now for almost a month and I'm going to see a Gastro Dr. today. I'm starting to think it might be from all the vitamin C a take every day between 17 and 20 grams. When I took it this morning I immediately felt that mild tinge or burning. I wonder if all along I wasn't drinking enough water with the C and now I injured my GI Tract?
Thanks
Ken

Flatulence is a common but harmless side-effect with high dose vitamin C. Enough water is always good.

I don’t think it’s the vitamin C ..as we get older certain foods do that I had to cut back on spicy foods and now only one cup of coffee per day..

Stomach, or bottom of the throat? You might be experiencing the beginnings of acid reflux - GERD. Probably not uncommon in high dose vitamin C takers because the mild acid is irritating the bottom of the throat, not the stomach, per se. (We were engineered over the eons to make vitamin C, not have to eat it. Than changed about 3 million years ago.)

Either add some baking soda, or start taking about half of your vitamin C as sodium ascorbate.

Here is the post about how I cured my own GERD - Spoiler: Upped my cortisol into the normal range (using hydrocortisone) and my esophagus healed and my GERD went away.

Would acid reflux cause mild discomfort on left side of abdomen then next day feel it on right side.. of course it not be related to vitamin C at all. I did see Gastrointestinal Dr. Yesterday of course right away they want to do colonosgaphy , I said no. But having blood work done for cardiologist and wants liver checked. So basically he said just monitor the symptoms for now.

Why would you say no to a colonoscopy?

A good friend also avoided doctors most of his life, finally acquiesced and had a colonoscopy, and they found a "softball" size benign tumor, I think he said 12 inches? He almost died from infection after it was taken out.

I'm not sure about the pain moving around, but there is something called a "hiatial hernia" that can cause symptoms like GERD. Apparently, this condition is rectified by surgery.

I've read some bad studies on them. I did have one about 10 or 15 years ago.
