Vitamin C, E can help prevent cardio-vascular diseases, finds LU

Lucknow, August 22: Researchers at the Biochemistry department of Lucknow University (LU) have found that Vitamin C and E can help prevent heart attacks and other cardio-vascular diseases. The clinical trials have been proved successful and the research has also been published in various International journals.

The research was carried out by a three-member team, headed by Prof M K ishra of the varsity’s Biochemistry department. Mishra said, “In our study we have ound that Vitamin (C and E) can efficiently regulate the blood and oxygen supply to heart.

There is another "wow" at the bottom

[quote]Prof Mishra explained: “Basically, when heart patients opt for angioplasty or ballooning to remove blockages in arteries, the patients become vulnerable to a burst of oxygen consumption. The heart experiences a sudden rise of oxygen supply, which in turn triggers formation of toxins. Ultimately, the toxins have an adverse effect on heart that may lead to heart attack. But, in our clinical trails we have observed that the post-heart attack patients if administered Vitamins C and E can be protected from the burst of oxygen.â€

reperfusion injury

Post Number:#2  Post by Ralph Lotz » Sat Aug 25, 2007 11:25 am

Reperfusion injury is the technical name for what happens when ischemia occurs in the body.
Routine use of antioxidants provides protection, but are of limited value if they are taken after an event such as heart attack or stroke. When blood flow (oxygen) is cut off, brain death begins to occur after +/- 5 minutes.

Of course an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

After the ischemic event occurs, it is imperative to get the blood flowing. A logical thing is for people at risk, those with valve replacements or atrial fib is to carry nattokinaise tablets in their pocket or purse. Hydergine, a drug that FDA does not recommend as been routinely used in Europe for years. It extends the brain cell die-off time to +/- 15-20 minutes.

From LEF

The most potent antioxidant that a hospital pharmacy normally stocks for the treatment of strokes is Hydergine. You should insist that the emergency room doctor administer 10 mg of Hydergine sublingually, and another 10 mg of Hydergine orally in liquid form. Hydergine is a powerful antioxidant that reduces free radical damage. Hydergine will increase the amount of oxygen delivered to the brain, enhance the energy metabolism of brain cells, and protect brain cells against both the low- and high-oxygen environments that ischemic stroke victims often encounter.

Hydergine is used routinely in Europe and the rest of the world as a treatment for stroke, but most emergency room physicians in the United States are reluctant to prescribe it because the FDA does not recognize its value in preventing brain-cell death. Paralyzed stroke victims consume billions of health care dollars every year, and the reason most ischemic stroke victims are permanently paralyzed is that the FDA has stopped patients from being treated with medications to prevent brain-cell death.

What a tragedy and a crime it is to survive a heart attack or stroke and end up in a chronic vegetative state because FDA doesn't approve a safe drug that costs only a few bucks, while totally ignoring vitamins and other antioxidant nutrients.!
"Unless we put medical freedom into the constitution...medicine will organize into an undercover dictatorship..force people who wish doctors and treatment of their own choice to submit to only what..dictating outfit offers." Dr. Benjamin Rush
