zarfas @ If you Google "B5 weight loss forum" you see many people discussing unexpected weight loss from consuming large doses of B5. These people were taking large doses of B5 to get rid of acne and faced a side effect of weight loss.

Also, see this...

According to Vitamins Nutrition, some independent researchers have found that vitamin B5 can be helpful in inducing weight loss in obese patients by increasing the breakdown of fats. However, for this to occur, the dosage of vitamin B5 must be high, which cannot be achieved through food products. Nutritional therapist Dr. Marilyn Glenville has also reported on an increased fat metabolism that occurs with pantothenic acid.

Owen is saying he's going to eat less. If I understand him, b5 allows you to eat less but not experience the hunger, tiredness, and ketosis that goes with dieting.

Another Point/Benefit of B5.

It does increase libido, in the cases that I have treated.

Ideal therapy for increased libido, raising testosterone/male sex hormone levels:

Though ideal situations rarely occur in life....but that's what I do for my patients:

Pantothenic acid + IV DMSO + followed by IV Glutathione.

Correct, regular Calcium Pantothenate 500 mg: 45mg, no harm IF you can afford Pantethine, but I haven't witnessed any advantages with the later or side effects with Pantothenic acid.

Does anyone know why B5 is a low percentage of daily requirements compared to other B vitamins in B50 and B100 complexes?

I looked at my B50 complex and it has nearly 3000 percent of B1 and B2 but only 500 percent if B5 for example.

Thanks eDoc!

I'd be curios to see a list of supplements that you take daily when you have the time.

eDOC - thank you again for your contribution based on clinical experience. I referenced Dr. Leung - out of Hong Kong - in 1995. Do you know if he is still alive, or has he published other papers that may not be in English?

And to Zarfas..

I am trying to understand how B5 makes you lose weight?
why would the body start burning more calories(fat) when given more b5?
so without b5, what is the body using for energy?

"No one said anything about a slow or fast metabolism."???

really? then what is changing when the megadoses of b5 are added?
I am trying to understand your position,
I understand b5 is in lots of rxs, so ? why would more b5 make a difference and do you have any science to support your assertions?

Again a collection of words that is hard for me to follow as a coherent thought or question. For the basic knowledge, you need to read the Leung paper that I referenced. It is 3 pages. Easy to read and explains his theory. These aren't my ideas, they are Dr. Leung's and in my opinion, his "discovery" is worth the Nobel prize. The only reason this work has been ignored, or at least the main reason, is the medical idea that only "tiny" amounts of vitamins are required. We know that isn't true with vitamin C. It isn't true with Niacin. We are learning it isn't true with vitamin B5.

So after you read the Leung paper, and understand why the body CANNOT BURN FAT EFFICIENTLY without Coenzyme A, which means without vitamin B5, it should start to make some sense. And like other areas, you will have to empty your mind of what you think you may already know about weight loss. Finally, since you like to look things up and repeat other's information, why not study Coenzyme A :D That would make interesting reading, at least for me.

Well my B5 (Now Foods, Pantethine) is on its way and I plan to have 3 grams daily. I will be reporting my experience in this thread. I am obese and have low testosterone, hoping to correct both the issues with B5. I know it's a tall order :)
